We really tested this Etisalat 4G LTE thoroughly on different devices, for ome days now, we have been on this testing of a thing while codedlywatching Etislat 4G LTE in ghost mode and wondering when it will come out of it.

Recently, users in some major cities reported seeing Etisalat 4G LTE active and live on their devices  See below the speed test;

But let me put to your now that Etisalat 4G LTE is now live in Lagos, Nigeria, I am still waiting for other cities to confirm if its live in their locations or not so by this, I want you to test the Etisalat 4G LTE in your location also, if it is working, let us know and if it is not, let us know also .

Etisalat sims are automatically USIM(Universal Subscriber Identity Module) which doesn’t need sim upgrade before it will work on 4G unlike its counterpart Glo and MTN  where you’ll have to upgrade to 4G SIM.

Would you believe that most 4G smartphones will supports Etisalat 4G LTE Network because it’s on a popular band. This is why I know that Glo 4G LTE is on a lonely planet; band 28 is forbidden on most 4G devices.

Etisalat has publicly announced this on their twitter handle... I will like to tell you again that you should test Etisalat 4G LTE in you location and drop your COMMENT if it is working well or not.

Though, It was 2G before, gradually, it enters 3G and now we are having 4G also so very soon, be expecting 5G, this is to tell you that technology is advancing everyday. For now, we are still rocking 4G LTE whose mobile data standard is 5 times faster than 3G and twice as fast at 3G+.

Let me put to you now that one of the most annoying thing some of you might likely face is to think that your smartphone is 4G supported only to discover that it is 100% 3G Mobile phone. But take a look at this procedures below, it show how to know if your mobile phone support 4G

HOW TO KNOW IF YOUR MOBILE PHONE SUPPORT 4G

It’s easy to know if your smartphone supports the standard. On Android smartphones, , Windows, iPhones and Blackberry mobile devices. So now, let me break it down for you by starting with Android…..

For Android Users:

Go to settings >> Network settings >> mobile network. It should give you a dropdown menu of mobile standards such as 2G, 3G or LTE (4G). If you don’t see 4G or LTE, then your smartphone doesn’t support the standard.

For Windows Users:

Go to Settings > Celluar + Sim > Highest connection speed and check if LTE is part of the options.

For iPhone Users:

On the iPhone, Go to Settings > General > cellular > Enable 4G LTE.

For Blackberry Users:

Go to settings>>Network and Connection>>Mobile Network>> Network mode and you’ll see 4G&3G&2G. however, if you are using Blackberry Q5 and below, you won’t get 4G network services.

So after selecting LTE and you have on a 4G network, the “LTE” symbol will appear on the phone status bar replacing either “3G”, “H” or “2G” symbols. That is pretty simple, ride on guys.

I can’t just imagine what Etisalat is doing, wjhy will they be increasing their Monthly data prices and am sure, most Smartphone users don’t really go for daily or weekly data plan, they prefer Monthly data plan including me. Well, with this upgrade they are into, am sure some people will prefer to go for Glo data plan which mean people will start backsliding from Etisalat and moving to Glo. And also to my own thinking and also encouraging people to stay on Etislat, am thinking that the reason why Etisalat have to upgrade their monthly prices is because of 4G LTE NETWORK

Hello guys! Are you a diamond bank account owner like me and wish to make transfers from your account to other accounts using their mobile app without having to goto the bank? Probably for  MMM donation transfers or for payments - whichever reason.

One thing about diamond mobile app transfers is that at first, you are limited to a particular amount (depending on your account - don't know the criteria for setting it though). And whenever you try to transfer a sum that is higher than the default setted limit, you are met with a limit exceed message that proofs transaction can't be completed.
Diamond bank mobile app

However, in this post, I will show you how I was able to increase my own diamond account transfer limit from the initial sum to as high as N10,000,000 for local transfers and N500,000 for NIP transfers. Without going to the bank, or calling their customer care to do it for me. And also without the use of a software or hardware token. Isn't that amazing?

How To Increase Your Transfer Limit Yourself

Mobile Money In Nigeria: Transfer, Receive + All You Need To Know

Mobile Money Transfer in Nigeria
When the mobile telecommunication network services berthed on Nigerian technological space more than a decade ago, little did most subscribers know the scope of the technology that just docked. With the advent of it, came so many solutions. It would now be wrong to describe mobile “telecommunications” operators as providing communication services. More than six years ago, mobile money came around to stay as a means of settling bills.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), rising to its responsibility as the chief financial regulator, began to come up with measures to regulate mobile money transfer. It came out with guidelines covering all major aspects of mobile money transfer in Nigeria and started issuing licenses to operators.
mobile money transfers

What is Mobile Money Transfer?

As advocacy for the CBN cashless policy was gaining ground, several e-payment initiatives that will enable both banked and unbanked seamlessly transfer funds, receive fund and pay for goods and services were springing up. One of such is the mobile money transfer. It is a solution that adopts the use of mobile phones to facilitate payments under a strict regulations monitored by strong organs of the apex financial institutions.  It is indeed mobile in nature and practice; giving mobile telecommunication services subscribers secured access to their own fund when and where the need it.

See: How to Convert Your Glo, MTN, Airtel and Etisalat Airtime to Cash

If this money transfer solution sustains its present tempo, it’s predictable that it will soon displace conventional payment methods. We make bold to state so because even at present, the number of mobile phone users in Nigeria is immeasurably greater than number of bank accounts owners. This is, thanks to accessibility of mobile telecommunication lines, no thanks to stringent requirements of opening an account with a bank. So with time and more awareness, many more business people with mobile phone would soon see mobile money transfer as a more convenient alternative to the rigours of traditional banking. Even now, so many users are settling the common bills they pick up like electricity DISCOS, cable TV service providers (DSTV, Startimes etc.) They even buy airtime through it.

Procedures

Mobile Money Operators (MMOs) already licensed by the CBN are the ones that make available the infrastructure that facilitate mobile payments or transfers for the subscribers who have registered for the mobile money transfer on their platforms (we shall list these platforms later). You sign in using your mobile line registered with the Nigerian Telecommunication Commission (NCC), by sending a particular text message to a particular short code the NCC has approved to the MMO of your choice.  As part of activation process, a security code which might be Personal Identification Number (PIN) some password will be required.

The MMOs are expected to have an all-encompassing procedure that takes care of the entire value chain covering; from user registration and management to agent recruitment and management. Consumer protection and dispute resolution procedures, together with risk management processes and transaction settlement are also expected to be involved.

Once registration is completed, your Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card has, together with any phone of your choice, assumed the role of wallet where your money is kept in effect. That’s why it’s referred to as electronic wallet (e-wallet) where you store your funds. Since it is a mobile wallet, you simply need to enter any shop that is mobile transfer compliant and begin to effect your business transaction. This same service affords you an opportunity of receiving payments through mobile money transfer on your mobile phone. You don’t need to have an account with a bank to enjoy this service.

There are different ways to fund your e-wallet:
  • Through an agent of your mobile service provider
  • Through consortium banks
  • Through ATM cards (or cardless transfer from ATM)
  • Other means provided in the MMO’s terms of engagement
Interestingly, it is also possible to convert the fund you have in your wallet to cash just in case of a dire need for cash transaction. It should be noted that most of these mobile transfer services attract transaction costs that, by regulation, must have been clearly stated ab initio. So it is good to read between the lines and understand the said and the unsaid before registering with a particular mobile money operator.
mobile money Nigeria

Mobile Money Service Providers

For the reasons best known to the CBN, this highest regulatory body till now has not made known the list of companies it has licensed to provide mobile money transfer services. This portends a measure of risks.  Yet for the sake of commercialism, these mobile money service providers have come out to the public and created awareness that they are players in the financial sector. They can be categorised into two, noting though that the list in each category is inexhaustible:

==>(1) Banks-led MMOs
Below is the list of some of the operators in this category and where they are accessible online
  • GTBank Mobile money, accessible at http://www.gtbplc.com
  • First Monie, accessible at: http://www.firstbankplc.com
  • Stanbic IBTC mobile money, accessible at: http://mobilemoney stanbic.com.
  • Ecobank mobile money, accessible at  http://www.ecobank.com
  • Zenith Bank- EazyMoney:  http://www.eazymoney.com.ng
  • U-MO Mobile money
  • Diamond bank mobile app

==>(2)Non-bank MMOs
The non-bank MMOs include the following, whilst others are not listed
  • Paga(my paga), accessible at http://www.pagatech.com
  • eTransact, accessible at http://mobileteller.etranzact.com/
  • Fortis MFB - Fortis Mobi, accessible at http://www.fortismobilemoney.com
  • Monitize, accessible at http://monitise.com/nigeria
  • FETS-my.wallet, accessible at http://www.mywallet.fets.com.ng
  • Eartholeum-QikQik, accessible at http://www,eartholeum.com
  • Mkudi- Mimo, accessible at http://blog.mimo.ng
  • Teasy Mobile - Teasy Mobile accessible at http://teasymobile.com
  • PayCom - PIDO(Payment Irrespective of Distance or Obstacles) - accessible at http://www.paycom-ng.com/
  • Interswitch
  • Pay with capture
  • Zoto app
Since mobile money transfer is a wide variety of worlds, the CBN has provided in its regulation clear-cut responsibilities of different players. Infrastructure providers have been saddled with the task of providing infrastructure that makes for switching, processing and inter-scheme settlement and facilities for mobile money transfer.

Recommended: How To Open A Zenith Bank A/c, Transfer Funds, Buy Airtime From Phone Via USSD Code

Actually some names may come up in the business of mobile money transfer but not all these are licensed as MMOs. For instance mobile telecommunication service providers are not licensed by the CBN as mobile money service providers. But the MMOs do not have telecommunication network and your e-wallet is your SIM card issued by network providers. It there becomes an easy way out for the network providers to be branding the services of the MMOs. Of course that’s a value added because it makes it convenient to pay and be paid for the services rendered either way. So when we hear for MTN Mobile Money, for example what is actually coming to play is that MTN devoted a substantial technology to the service of the MMO it is branding.

There are some advantages to network provided branding mobile money services. They own the network and so they are able to provide SIM cards that are mobile money compliant. They can ensure seamless funding, transfer, and withdrawal, especially with the transactions within the same network. You don’t need an android phones, windows phones, Ipad, Iphone or other sophisticated devices that can run applications, since you don’t have to download any mobile app.

However, if you are not a subscriber to the network that brands the service, the service it definitely out of your reach. And even if you are subscriber, it is doubtful in spite of promises, if you will be able to transfer mobile money or receive money from users using services branded by other mobile network operators. In addition, only a few banks are willing to partner with them.

In the other way round, mobile money operators brand their own mobile money services. This is common with the banks. It should be stated here that for though your phone number is actually attached to the service, the service is not going to be installed on your SIM card. You will have to download the app of the provider. In order to facilitate this service, they partner with so many mobile network providers authorized by the apex bank.

The comparative strength of this is that regardless of your mobile network, you can enjoy this service.

However, you subscribers need special phones that can run the mobile app which you must download and install.

Thats all for now about mobile money. Subsequent posts relating to it will pop up before the week runs out. Buh if you having any question feel free to table it to us using the comment box below and we will reply you asap to the best of our knowledge.

Hello NaijaTechLovers Readers, I love you all that’s why am throwing this info to you, for those of you still using substandard phones; NCC has angrily warned you… Do no use substandard handset. According to NCC, such handsets are responsible for the various network failure and related problems they experience during dialing or receiving of calls.
We Notice that many consumers complain that their data and credit are illegally deducted by service providers but they should understand that smart phones have various complex attributes.
Consumers should use the handsets outlined in our manual as they have been certified to be efficient for telecommunication usages.

NCC also urge the public to take note of this, “Smartphones should be switched-off when not in use as they automatically upgrade themselves and can deduct data in the process,”

So that is all about NCC warning on substandard phones so I want you all to take note of those warning above, atleast you know all those substandard smartphones with strange names everywhere. So go get a standard phone and you will really enjoy it, Normally you may be thinking about the price, don’t worry about that, you can see a standard phone at a best affordable price and you will love it.

Uses of Mobile Money + Platforms Accepting Mobile Money Payments

$

More than six years in operation in Nigeria, the mobile money transfer has not occupied its rightful place in the money market. This is due to the fact that most people do not know the uses of this form of money transfer. Part of the misconceptions was that it’s meant for only the wealthy. Others thought of it as a form of banking service. Fear of fraud is the beginning of lack of understanding for some others. In this article you will read not only about the uses of the mobile money transfer, but also about the procedures to use it for the purpose. You will also be intimated of the platforms that accept payment via mobile money.
Mobile money can be used for the following purposes:
mobile money transfers

To Pay Bills
Most of the bills people go to the bank to queue up to pay (e.g. like cable TV bills, electricity bills, tax and rates and so on) can be quickly settled using mobile money transfer. Once the mobile app of the MMO is installed on your phone, you will be able to transfer money to settle monthly bills to providers of such services from wherever you are. These service providers have options of payment via mobile money transfer. Since you are a partner in progress, it should not be too much for you to take some time to activate the service on their platforms.
However, you will have to fund your e-wallet to be able to pay bills and make purchases on mobile transfer platforms. These are the steps to take to proceed with that.

Fund Wallet

  • Log in to the site of your MMO and follow the prompt.
  • Depending on the design of the site, among other options you could see an option like “Fund Wallet.”
  • Select the option and fill in the required data.
  • Fill in the required information including your wallet number, your PIN and click Next.
  • State the amount you desire to keep in your wallet and select “Next."
  • You will be asked to supply your card number and other details.
  • The next option you will select is “Pay.”
  • You will be notified by means of an sms that will confirm that your logged in amount has been deposited to your e-wallet. That sms should normally also notify you of any service charge or any other named fee and the amount.
  • You will pay the amount with which you fund your m-wallet at either a partner bank or the MMO’s agent.

money from bank

Withdraw money
Funds can be withdrawn via mobile money transfer. You can do this by withdrawing from the ATM with a card or make it a cardless transaction. The transaction would first be carried out on your mobile phone, through the mobile app or USSD. If you want to withdraw from your e-wallet, this is the procedure.

  • First log in via your phone and complete a process similar to that of funding your wallet, a unique transaction code will be sent to your phone in form of sms confirmation.
  • Go to the ATM at the nearest partnering bank which could be First Bank, Zenith Bank or GT Bank among others.
  • Select “Cardless Transaction”.
  • If your MMO partners with the bank, select its name and follow the prompt.
  • Among other things, you will be required to enter the transaction code already sent to you via sms.
  • Then supply your PIN and click next.
  • Punch in the amount.
  • If all the information is correct, you will be required to take your cash as dispensed.
  • A debit alert will be sent to your number indicating the amount withdrawn from your e-wallet and the balance.
  • Check if the transaction alert sent to your phone tallies with your calculation.

You can also withdraw cash from the agent of your MMO.
Through your mobile phone or through the mobile app or USSD, supply all the information applicable to withdrawing from your wallet as indicated above. The only difference is that it would be through an agent. So the option to select would be something like “Withdraw Money at Agent.”

  • A unique transaction code will be sent to your phone in form of sms confirmation.
  • Go and tender the code at the nearest agent of MMO’s outlet.
  • He would confirm all the data you submit to him through his mobile app or through his mobile phone.
  • If all the information is correct, the agent will give you the cash and your m-wallet will be debited with the amount withdrawn.
  • You will notified by means of a debit alert. Please confirm to be sure there is nothing like over-or undercharging

Receive funds from abroad
Mobile money transfer is also used to receive funds from abroad. If you want to do so, you will have to do the following:

  • Send your FULL NAME with which you subscribe to the service from your MMO and your registered phone number to the payer.
  • You will tell the sender to locate an agent of your MMO or a bank that partners the MMO in that country. (Some MMOs do not have partnering banks or agents in some country so be sure that your MMO’s service is there)
  • Inform him to ask m-Wallet transfer to Nigeria.
  • Both of you will be informed of the status of the transaction by means of an sms and even a secured email.
  • Then follow the process of withdrawing your cash; transferring it to your bank account or to another mobile money account or yet by cash through a bank or an agent.
send money with mobile money

Send funds
It is also used to send money to a bank account or to another user. This is how you will go about it via your mobile app or any phone:

  • Open the mobile app or call up mobile transfer on your phone, type the key and your user code given your MMO.
  • From the pop up menu, select “To Bank Account”.
  • This can be achieved alternatively by selecting “Send Money” on USSD prompts and choose “To Bank Account”.
  • Select the bank of the payee from the menu. Enter his account number and the amount.
  • The name of the payee will be displayed and you will be asked to confirm that you really want to send the money to him.
  • Your PIN will be requested and you will enter it.
  • Option “send” will then be highlighted and you will select it.
  • If the transfer is successful, you will receive an SMS confirmation.

If you are sending it to another user, in the pop up menu, you will not select “To a Bank Account,” rather select “To e-wallet” or “To m-wallet” as the case may be. Follow the prompt and supply all the data the payee supplied about his mobile money transfer service.

If many explore these options, there could be some variations. Yet they will be glad to know that mobile money transfer is quite versatile and usable for almost everyone.
